My “Disability-Proof” Baby Registry (Pt.II)

After about 3 months of being a parent, this crazy, overnight phenomenon occurs. All of a sudden you have this real human who smiles and giggles and plays (and screams for no reason, and rolls…)

There’s this baby who has taken over your entire house, because Amazon makes it so easy to spoil them.

You can find my newborn (0-3 months) recommendations here. But this post is all about the objects my current 5-month-old and I use almost every day. Hopefully, these recommendations help someone out there. And if not, you can at least enjoy some pictures of Leo…

[As an affiliate, if you purchase anything from the links in this post, I could make some money, at no additional cost to you.]

Mombella Mushroom Teether

As soon as your kid starts drooling and crying and sticking anything that fits in their mouth in there, you buy every teether imaginable. At least I did. But while we do really love the Banana Toothbrush, Sophie the Giraffe, and the Teething Tube (after lots of honestly unnecessary personal debate)… this silicone mushroom is super popular and inexpensive. So, start here first. Good luck.

Mesh Feeder

Another great teething weapon is filling one of these with frozen fruit (or breast milk, or water) to let your baby suck on. Bonus: it’s good self-feeding practice, keeps them occupied, and provides a safe way of tasting new flavors (like strawberries…).

And yes, I hear the Silicone Feeders are better because they’re easier to clean, but I don’t have them, so I can’t really recommend something I haven’t tried.

Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat

Get one (or two) of these; you won’t regret it. At some point, that not-so-little one is going to want to sit up, but might not be strong enough to do so on their own. Between the endless design choices, its folding ability, the back/head support, two attached toys, optional tray, and its light weight, this thing is pretty perfect.

Tummy Time Water Mat

Tummy time kind of… sucks. Some kids like it! Most don’t. Regardless, all babies need to do it (especially since they’re supposed to sleep on their back). Leo loves trying to grab the enclosed plastic fish, keeping him entertained and distracted.

Freddie the Firefly

Right now, this is Leo’s favorite toy. Probably because there are so many features, so his weekly obsession (black and white patterns, crinkle noises, mirrors.. ) is always included. There are endless possibilities with this thing.

On-The-Go Baby Dome

This miniature pack n play folds and moves so easily, giving you a safe sleep place literally wherever you want.  Whether it’s your home office, the beach, a park, grandma’s, the woods… Plus, the side rolls up so you can completely encompass your baby & shield them from bugs. I also bought a Stroller Fan to clip on to at least circulate the hot air.

Activity Center

I cannot stress the importance of one of these enough. Leo was completely uninterested in this at first, but now he would spend all day in it, if I let him. It’s just so convenient for when you need to keep them busy while you get stuff done. This one does seem a bit bulky for walking purposes, but we’re not there yet, so it’s great for now!

Babies grow and learn and change SO QUICKLY, so I’ll write a “Part III” soon. But, for now, I’m gonna go play… I mean, take care of my kid.
