Life is but a dream…

Well, it happened.

On June 24, 2022 the U.S. Supreme Court terminated the Constitutional right for citizens to have abortions.

I had a whole post typed out about my IVF procedure and how it links to the abortion debate. I have pretty strong feelings regarding the importance of bodily autonomy and the necessary discarding of unviable embryos, largely because of that personal experience.

But then I thought about how the very simple right to privacy is quite literally, abruptly, being stripped away from a mass amount of U.S. citizens. So, I decided it was more important to utilize that dwindling right, rather than explain the multitude of gray in this black-and-white ruling. 

I really do see how “fighting for the unborn child” and “giving the voiceless a voice” seems like a great cause to be passionate about. (Plus it makes you sound like the Lorax…) But you do understand it’s about far more than that, right? Do you realize how different, how horrible, life is now going to be for a whole lot of people – including those you’re “fighting for”?

 

Personally, I don’t understand how a party that usually advocates for a “small, hands-off” government is so completely opposite here? I really don’t see how anyone can be confident and comfortable telling a complete stranger how to live a life that has NO EFFECT on them? If a woman is choosing to abort, don’t you think there’s a strong reason for it? I promise you, no one WANTS to “kill babies.” (My blog, my opinion…)

But it was never in the Constitution to begin with… 
The SCOTUS didn’t ban abortions, it just gave the deciding power to the states…

 

If you don’t want a baby, don’t have sex…

 

Is it really so wrong to want to protect babies’ lives? To guarantee a chance of living? To stop teenage girls from becoming murderers?

So, please, read THIS POST, written when the draft majority opinion was leaked a couple of months ago. It’ll give you a basic explanation and some (updated) resources for protesting.
