Ah, the power of perception. How two people can read the same exact book (or, say, news article) and have very different interpretations of it. Interpretations that are worth explaining and learning from, even when you don’t agree with them.
The #BlackLivesMatter movement has RIGHTLY taken America – and other parts of the globe – by storm. Hopefully, its instant popularity directly leads to a large number of successes. And it should definitely be noted that one key aspect in how quickly and widely #BLM has spread is because of how inclusive it all really is.
I pride myself on being a pretty positive person (with a natural knack for alliteration). This blog gets compliments all the time on how it helps others be more optimistic.
Which is why Facebook is killing me.
Despite no longer teaching, when Gov. Cuomo announced that NYS school buildings would remain closed for the rest of this academic year, it broke my heart. I can’t imagine just leaving my classroom one Friday and then, kind of out of nowhere, not returning. I had months of preparation to deal with my resignation last year, and it was still unbelievably difficult.
