“Happy Anniversary” Blog Post
About a year ago, I started this blog with three posts introducing myself, and Ataxia, to the world.
I’m not going to lie, my initial motivation was earning money. All over Pinterest there were “Easy Steps to Make Thousands” with a blog. And $9.63 later, I’m still figuring out how to do that…
BUT the impact I’ve been told I make with each post is far more valuable than any monetary income (awww).
I’ve increased Ataxia awareness through posts about the disease, what it’s like living with it, how to cope with it, and ways that you can help. I’ve promoted adventure and exploration by sharing my cross-country road trip itineraries and pictures. I’ve offered other perspectives on current events. I’ve encouraged life-long learning in my posts on reading, writing, and grammar. I’ve inspired new moms, and teachers, and activists, and spoonies…
Even better? I feel like I’m actually making a difference, no matter how small. People from all walks of life relate to and/or learn from my own experiences, which is so cool…
I’ve made friends with readers from literally all over the world. I’ve gotten to continue teaching even after I resigned. And publishing for a real audience once a week has noticeably improved my writing skills. (Yes, I’m still working on that novel.)
Sure, I’ve used the word “I” 17 times so far in this post, but I’M PROUD OF MY BLOG and I want you to know that. It feels good to acknowledge your own accomplishments. I don’t think we do it enough. (20)
So, THANK YOU. For liking and commenting and sharing and subscribing. For learning and relating and supporting and helping. For critiquing and praising and inspiring and suggesting.
Thank you for reading.
PS: If you didn’t know, clicking on any maroon word will bring you to that relevant post.
You are a rock star, Megan! I brag about you and your blog to anyone who will listen! Thank you for continuing to be an incredible inspiration and making the world a better place with your words! ❤️
Thanks for your inspiration and positive attitude. You did get me excited about a road trip….which is now indefinitely on hold, unfortunately, but still…. PS. Leo is adorable!
